Sarmiento Terminates the Contract of Israel Damonte

Club Atlético Sarmiento announced the termination of Israel Damonte's contract as head coach of the first division. In a message through its social media, the club thanked Damonte for his work and wished him success in his career. Martín Funes will take the position on an interim basis.

The decision to part ways with Damonte was made by Fernando Chiòfalo, president of the institution, with nine rounds remaining in the Liga Profesional. The termination of the contract will be formalized on Monday, according to the Doble Amarilla website.

Sarmiento is currently in last place in the annual table alongside Independiente Rivadavia and in third-to-last place in the averages. In this second stint in charge of the team, Damonte recorded six wins, eight draws, and twelve losses, achieving just over 33% effectiveness.

The Board of Directors of Sarmiento de Junín decided to dismiss Israel Damonte from his position as head coach due to the sporting crisis that keeps the team in the lower positions of the standings and averages. This decision came after the 1-1 draw against Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata.

Although relegations were eliminated in the current tournament, the leaders felt that a change was necessary. In his previous spell at the club, Damonte recorded 21 wins, 21 draws, and 28 losses.
